The holy month of Sawan, also known as Shravan, holds immense significance for Lord Shiva devotees. Many devotees observe fasting, Rudrabhishek, and offer water, milk, and bel leaves to the Shiva Linga during this month to seek blessings. Here are the Sawan 2025 start date and end date details you need to plan your spiritual month effectively.

Sawan 2025 Start Date and End Date

The Sawan 2025 start date and end date will vary slightly depending on the calendar you follow:

North India (Purnimanta Calendar)

  • Start Date: July 11, 2025 (Friday)
  • End Date: August 9, 2025 (Saturday)

South and Western India (Amanta Calendar)

  • Start Date: July 25, 2025
  • End Date: August 23, 2025

The Purnimanta calendar, followed in North Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh, starts the month of Sawan around 15 days earlier than the Amanta calendar used in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. This difference is essential to consider while observing Sawan rituals.

For general reference, unless your region follows the Amanta system, it is recommended to use the Sawan 2025 start date and end date according to the North Indian Purnimanta calendar.

Sawan Somwar (Monday) Dates in 2025

Mondays during Sawan are extremely auspicious for fasting and performing Shiva Puja. Here are the Sawan Somwar dates for North India in 2025:

  • First Sawan Somwar: July 14, 2025
  • Second Sawan Somwar: July 21, 2025
  • Third Sawan Somwar: July 28, 2025
  • Fourth Sawan Somwar: August 4, 2025

Please note that some sources may mention additional Somwars on August 11 and 18, but these dates are relevant only for regions following the Amanta calendar. For North India, the above four dates align correctly with the Sawan 2025 start date and end date.

Sawan Shivaratri 2025 Date

  • Sawan Shivaratri: July 23, 2025 (Wednesday)

Sawan Shivaratri, also known as Shravan Shivaratri, is celebrated on Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi of the Shravan month. Devotees perform fasting, night-long Jagran, and special Abhishek of the Shiva Linga to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings on this day.

Significance of Sawan

Sawan is linked to the Samudra Manthan legend, where Lord Shiva consumed the Halahal poison to save the universe, and devotees offer water and milk to soothe him. Many perform Sawan Somwar Vrat, Rudrabhishek, and chant Shiva mantras during this holy month.

Understanding the Sawan 2025 start date and end date will help you align your fasting and worship days accurately according to your regional calendar and traditions.

Final Notes

  • Always confirm with your local panchang or priest for precise muhurat timings during Sawan.
  • If you reside in South or Western India, use the Amanta calendar to calculate the Sawan 2025 start date and end date accurately for your rituals.
  • The month of Sawan is considered highly auspicious for spiritual growth and Shiva devotion.

By aligning your worship with the Sawan 2025 start date and end date, you can experience the spiritual vibrance of this sacred month and receive the blessings of Lord Shiva.
